On April 17, BYD released the images of its fire new sedan model, the Qin L, which is set to debut at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing on April 25.

The Qin L will be marketed alongside the existing Qin PLUS, addressing diverse consumer preferences with a starting price likely above 120,000 yuan.

The design of the Qin L incorporates what is described as "modern Chinese dragon aesthetics," featuring a large grille adorned with a matrix-style pattern for a striking visual impact. The headlights are sleek and sharp, merging seamlessly with the upward-curving "dragon whiskers," enhancing the multi-layered look of the car's face and expanding its visual width.

From the side, the car showcases a long waistline extending from the front fender to the rear door, creating a slender body. This is complemented by concave lines on the doors, adding a sculptural quality that emphasizes the car's strength. It also sports a fastback design, giving it a youthful and athletic stance.

At the rear, the wide shoulder design echoes the front and adds a muscular feel to the car's silhouette. The through-type taillight design, inspired by the Chinese knot, enhances its recognition. In terms of dimensions, the Qin L measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. For comparison, the current Qin PLUS is slightly smaller.

Under the hood, the Qin L is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5L engine with an electric motor, utilizing BYD's 5th-generation DM-i hybrid technology. The engine boasts a peak output of 74 kW, while the electric motor can deliver up to 160 kW. It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from Zhengzhou FinDreams Battery, available in two capacities—15.874 kWh and 10.08 kWh—offering ranges of 90 km and 60 km on battery power alone, respectively.
