Honda Motor’s China sales edge down 0.4% YoY in Apr. 2023
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In Apr. 2023, Honda Motor sold 94,879 vehicles to consumers in China, representing a 0.4% slight year-on-year dip, according to the Japanese automaker's press release.
It is noteworthy that the decrease in the Apr. sales was remarkably narrowed down from the two-digit decline Honda Motor faced in its China monthly during the five consecutive months ended Mar. 2023.
As for the performance of two joint ventures, GAC Honda saw its monthly deliveries leap 40.9% from the previous year to 60,498 units in Apr. 2023, while Dongfeng Motor's Apr. deliveries still dropped 34.2% over a year earlier to 34,381 units.
For the first four months of 2023, Honda Motor’s cumulative sales in China amounted to 315,245 units, shrinking 29.8% compared to the same span of last year.
Of the vehicles sold in the Jan.-Apr. period, 73,956 units were electrified vehicles, which include hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV).
GAC Honda saw its year-to-date sales slide 21.7% over a year earlier to 178,424 units, while Dongfeng Honda also posted a 38.2% year-on-year decline in its Jan.-Apr. sales, which came in at 136,821 units.
At the Auto Shanghai 2023, Honda Motor exhibited the world premiere of two prototype models, the e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype, and one concept model, the e:N SUV 序, for the second and third set of e:N Series EV models, respectively.
Through the introduction of these new EV models, Honda will continue to enhance e:N Series lineup and strive to make EVs represent 100% of its automobile sales in China by 2035.
Besides, Honda Motor said it is planning to introduce 10 Honda-brand EV models in China by 2027.
