Shanghai (ZXZC)- CATL announced on Oct. 18 its cooperation with Primergy Solar LLC ("Primergy"), a U.S.-based owner and operator of utility and distributed scale solar and energy storage facilities. The two parties signed a battery supply agreement for the Gemini Solar + Storage Project near Las Vegas, Nevada, with a total of US$1.2 billion planned to be poured.

Upon completion, the Gemini will be one of the largest operational solar and energy storage projects in the U.S., with a 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar array and a 1,416 MWh energy storage system, according to CATL's announcement. Earlier this year, Primergy fulfilled a comprehensive and detailed procurement progress, and selected several equipment suppliers and construction partners for the Gemini project.

Primergy has designed for the Gemini project an innovative DC coupled system, which can maximize the efficiency by integrating the solar array and CATL's energy storage system.

CATL will provide Primergy with its EnerOne, a modular outdoor liquid cooling battery energy storage system featuring long service life, high integration, and high safety. Adopting LFP cells, the EnerOne is capable of up to 10,000 cycles, contributing to the safe and stable operation of the Gemini project.

"The future of energy reliability and resiliency relies on the mass deployment of battery storage capacity that can supply consistent power back into the grid when it's needed most," said Ty Daul, Chief Executive Officer. "We are working with CATL to build a market-leading and highly sophisticated battery storage system that can capture surplus solar power during the day and store it for use in the early evening after the sunsets in Nevada.”
