According to HUAWEI’s CEO by rotation, Hu Houkun, in 2022, HUAWEI will introduce new vehicle models to the market. HUAWEI’s involvement in the new models will include both HUAWEI Select (like the SERES’ SF5 model) and HUAWEI Inside (such as the ACRFOX αS HI) cooperation patterns.

Notably, since the launch of HUAWEI’s latest collaborative model, the AITO M5, the CEO of its intelligent auto business unit, Yu Chengdong, had been emphasizing that HUAWEI will sell 300,000 intelligent vehicles in 2022. However, as time passed by, the CEO changed his narrative that under the crimped supply of chips, it would be a miracle to sell 100,000 to 200,000 vehicles in the year.

Hu Houkun agreed that selling 300,000 vehicles in the first year would be a hard target to crack. As a new comer to the auto industry, it is forgivable for HUAWEI to make certain mistakes.

Nonetheless, Hu Houkun stated that HUAWEI had gained a clearer understanding of the intelligent auto trend, and HUAWEI’s position has become more explicit than before. Its position in the industry is still a supplier for intelligent auto parts. The company will work to earn the recognition from more partners throughout the industrial chain.
