Shanghai (ZXZC)- BYD Company Limited (BYD) boasted an 88.42% year-on-year hike in Oct. auto sales, which stood at 89,935 units, the company announced on Wednesday.

BYD's oil-fueled vehicle unit posted a 63.72% plunge over the prior-year period, accounting for only 9.9% of the company's overall sales. Due to the six straight months of year-on-year decrease, the company's sales of cars running on traditional fuel dipped 32.04% for the first ten months.

The robust growth was wholly attributable to the 249.05% hike in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales. Notably, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles (NEPVs) zoomed up 262.91% over a year ago to 80,003 units last month, which made the year-to-date NEPV sales top 410,000 units.

Of the NEPVs sold in Oct., 38,771 units were DM models (namely, PHEVs), representing a 444.08% remarkable increase year-over-year thanks to the driving forces from the DM-i models.

The company said the sales of the Qin PLUS DM-i in Oct. rose 15.4% month on month, while didn't reveal the concrete sales volume. Based on the sales of 15,164 units for Sept., we can surmise that the model's sales volume in Oct. should be about 17,500 units.

BYD's all-electric PV sales soar 176.37% from a year ago to 41,232 units in Oct. Notably, the sales of the Dolphin, the first model based on BYD's e-platform 3.0, reached 6,018 units last month, rocketing 100.6% from the previous month.
