As a coastal city with ports for export, Qingdao was the most preferred answer. Many “insiders” and media outlets have discussed the issue, aggravating the rumor. Moreover, with a specific rumor coming to a conclusion about how Tesla is most likely to settle down in the West Coast District in Qingdao, which sent the stock price of the area’s holding group to a daily rising limit.
On the other hand, according to Tesla, the Gigafactory in Shanghai has a production capacity of over 450,000 vehicles.
The China Passenger Car Association reported that in the third quarter this year, the Gigafactory produced 133,200 vehicles. During the first three quarters, Tesla has produced a total of over 300,000 vehicles, the automaker said, indicating the factory is already in overload.
