Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Auto said on March 18 its CMA (Compact Modular Architecture)-based SUV Xingyue L will be the first model equipped with the 5G-enabled automated valet parking technology that allows users to remotely control car parking up to 1 kilometers away from their cars (5G-AVP 1km).

Powered by the technology, the Xingyue SUV can perform Level 4 autonomous driving features in specific scenarios, said Geely Auto. Based on 5G technology, the 5G-AVP 1km will enable real-time communications of V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything), V to Cloud and V to Mobile, allowing vehicles to automatically search parking spots, confirm the location of users and pick up car owners.

The company said the 5G-AVP 1km system is armed with the super domain controller from Texas Instruments. It is available for online computing of dynamic and static obstacles, like roads, pedestrians, road markings and roadblocks by virtue of a super sensing system composed of 24 sensors and the high-/low-speed fusion algorithm for GPS. Specifically, the sensors include 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 millimeter-wave radars and 7 high-definition cameras.

The Xingyue L will be Geely's third CMA-based model and its first internal combustion engine vehicle that partially achieves Level 4 in intelligence and safety performance. Moreover, the vehicle is applicable to FOTA (firmware over-the-air) for whole functional domains.
