New Haval H9 rolled off production line in China

On May 8, Great Wall Motor’s new Haval H9 officially rolled off the production line at the Yongchuan factory in Chongqing, China. The official launch may be later this year with a starting price of around 170,000 yuan (23,500 USD), available in gasoline-powered and diesel-powered models.

The new Haval H9 is positioned as a medium-to-large hardcore SUV with dimensions of 5070/1960 (1976)/1930 mm, and the wheelbase is 2850 mm. Both the five-seater and seven-seater layouts are available. It is worth mentioning that the Haval H9 currently on sale was launched in 2014, targeting the off-road SUV market that was dominated by imported American and Japanese brands in China. Interestingly, the Haval H9 had also been designated as the first choice military vehicle in countries such as Bangladesh and Cambodia.

Earlier, the new Haval H9 appeared at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. Four exterior body colors are offered: green, gray, white, and matte black. The new Haval H9 adopts a square body and features an external spare tire, towing capabilities, and three differential Locks at the center, rear, and front, further emphasizing its identity as a hardcore off-road SUV. Additionally, the gasoline models run on 17/18/19-inch rims, while the diesel models run on only 18-inch rims.

In terms of power, the new Haval H9 offers a 2.0T gasoline engine + 8AT system or a 2.4T diesel engine + 9AT system. The maximum power of the gasoline version is 165 kW; the maximum power of the diesel version is 137 kW.

Coming to the interior, the cockpit offers two color schemes: black and brown. Most of the physical buttons are retained. The interior features a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an instrument panel, a 14.6-inch floating central control screen, and a bulky gear lever. The rear seats can also be folded down automatically to transform into a bed.
