Shanghai (ZXZC)- On September 19, 2023, the world's leading lubricant supplier Shell saw its global largest-ever electric vehicle (EV) charging station officially commence operations in Shenzhen, China. Located just 2.5 kilometers from Shenzhen Airport's terminal, this facility boasts a total of 258 public fast chargers. The operation of this station falls under the responsibility of Shenzhen Shell BYD Electric Vehicle Investment Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Shell and BYD.

During its trial period, Shell's Shenzhen Airport Charging Station provides daily charging services to more than 3,300 electric vehicles. Aside from charging, it offers customers a wide range of services including Shell Select convenience retail, Shell Café, dining options, vending machines, and lounges. Guided by a "customer-centric" philosophy, Shell is committed to meeting diverse customer needs all in one place. The solar panels on the station's roof generate an annual output of 300,000 kWh, all of which is dedicated to charging customers' vehicles.

Shell China's Chairman Chen Lin emphasized the importance of continuing to build public charging infrastructures to support the acceleration of vehicle electrification in China, a global leader in electric vehicle sales. The establishment of Shell's global largest EV charging station in China not only showcases Shell's ambition to play a role in China's electrification journey, but also underscores its broader commitment to supporting China's energy transition by providing more sustainable energy solutions.

In addition to serving the growing number of EV customers, Shell is also devoted to meeting various energy and mobility needs. Recently opened in Wuhan, the Shell Panlong "Ten-in-One" Comprehensive Energy Station provides customers with over ten different travel products and services, including gasoline and diesel, EV charging, hydrogen refueling, convenience stores, car wash facilities, restaurants, and driver lounges.

The station also supplies the Shell V-Power Racing fuel newly launched in China, which, compared to mainstream Octane Fuel 92, can deliver an up to 6.25% increase in vehicle power output and a 5.36% improvement in acceleration.
