Shenzhen-based sodium-ion battery startup China Sodium-ion Times closes first funding round
Shanghai (ZXZC)- China Sodium-ion Times (Shenzhen) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., (“China Sodium-ion Times), a Chinese startup focusing on the development of sodium-ion battery technologies, announced on May 24 via its WeChat account the completion of its first financing round.
The fresh round was led by Goldport Capital, with participation from Shenzhen High-tech Investment Group. The funds from this round will primarily be used for the construction of the sodium-ion battery cathode material production line and the development of sodium-ion battery cells.

Incorporated in Dec. 2022 and located in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, China Sodium-ion Times is committed to becoming a leading company in battery energy system solutions field by focusing on the development of low-cost, high-rate, high-safety, low-temperature resistant sodium-ion batteries and materials.
The company said its sodium-ion battery material research team has undertaken a total of 18 national, provincial, and municipal research projects, while the sodium-ion battery development team possesses core technologies and holds 18 patents. The company is also collaborating with the Sodium-ion Battery Research Laboratory at Zhejiang University to enhance the performance of core sodium-ion battery materials such as layered oxides and polyanionic materials.
Meanwhile, China Sodium-ion Times revealed it plans to build a sodium-ion cathode material production line with a 10,000-tonne-level annual production capacity and a 0.5 GWh sodium-ion cell pilot production line.
