BAIC BJEV, Huawei cement partnership for next-generation ICV

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On November 5, BAIC BJEV and Huawei inked a cooperation framework agreement in Beijing that cements the partnership between two companies. The new agreement says Huawei will offer its advantage on ICT (Information Communications Technology) to help the EV maker build its next-generation intelligent-connected EVs.

Xu Heyi, chairman of BAIC Group said the latest collaboration with Huawei strengthens BAIC's confidence in the development of its new energy strategy. Xu Zhijun, rotating chairman of Huawei, noted that its "full-stack" "full-scenario" AI solutions will help the company build an "everything-is-connected" intelligent ecosystem.

BAIC BJEV and Huawei formed the partnership on September 27, 2017 to jointly work on technology R&D and product innovation, involving such areas as cloud computing, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) and energy network, etc. The newly-agreed cooperation will allow both parties to make joint layouts in industrial Internet, intelligent park as well as ICT infrastructures, etc.

In fact, tie-ups between automakers and technology companies are getting increasingly closer in the wake of connectivity and intelligentization. BAIC Group has reached cooperation agreements with Tencent and Baidu on IoV and autonomous driving. Besides, the automaker also built partnership with 12 firms, such as ZF, Bosch, Hella, Panasonic and iFlytek, at the 2018 World Autonomous Vehicle Ecosystem Conference.

Huawei, as a leading global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices in China, is tapping automobile industry by offering intelligent technologies and solutions to Dongfeng Motor, Audi and other car markers.
