Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Trumpchi  announced the launching of its first overseas sales subsidiary in Russia at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show, according to local media. The Russian sales company will be responsible for the import and agency businesses of Trumpchi branded cars in Russia and work on weaving the sales networks for the brand by cooperating with local dealers.

Zhan Songguang, deputy general manager of GAC MOTOR, expressed that GAC Trumpchi regards Russia as an important overseas strategic market. The company will try transnational operation and localized management in the future.

The detail products to be brought to Russian market have not been exposed yet. Reportedly, the automaker is going to introduce 1 to 2 new models in Russia based on local market and consumers' demands.

GAC Trumpchi is planning to be the first Chinese carmaker to enter the U.S. car market and plans to sell the Trumpchi GS8 there in the fourth quarter of 2019. As part of preparation, the automaker has set up R&D centers and design centers in Silicon Valley, Detroit and Los Angeles.

President Donald Trump' administration has imposed 25% tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese products from July, while the complete vehicle was also involved. Thus, the escalating U.S.-China trade tension probably hinders the process for GAC Trumpchi to enter in U.S. market.
