Singulato Motors to build global R&D center, production base in Suzhou

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Shen Haiyin, CEO of China's EV startup Singulato Motors, announced on March 31 that the company will build its global R&D center and a production base in Suzhou City (of Jiangsu Province) with a total of RMB 15 billion investment involved in the next five years. These programs will be developed in cooperation with Suzhou Government, Xiangcheng District (of Suzhou City) government and Suzhou High-Speed Rail New City. Besides, all participants will jointly set up an industrial investment fund on intelligent electric vehicle (EV) involving RMB 10 billion, according to Singulato Motors.

The new production base (hereinafter, Xiangcheng base) covers an area of 1,000 mu (around 666,000 square meters) with a total floorage of 400,000 square meters. The first phase of the Xiangcheng base, occupying an area of 600 mu (400,000 square meters), will own an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. Including the 266,000-square-meter second phase, the total production capacity of the Xiangcheng base is expected to reach 200,000 vehicles per year. In addition, targeting the timesharing rental market, the startup plans to let the Xiangcheng base manufacture small-sized intelligent NEVs (new energy vehicle) and is ambitious to build the new base into one of the most advanced intelligent EV bases in Asia.

The startup's global R&D center co-built with Suzhou Government is located at Suzhou High-Speed Rail New City and covers an area of 100 mu (around 66,000 square meters). Once the new center is completed, it will work on R&D of autonomous driving system, autonomous driving security technologies, vehicles as well as electronic and electrical parts of intelligent systems.

Previously, Singulato Motors has already established several R&D centers in domestic and overseas cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tongling (of Anhui Province, China), Silicon Valley and Utsunomiya (of Japan).

As early as November, 2016, the startup officially announced that its NEV industrial park would be located in Tongling, Anhui Province and mainly focuses on the production of high-quality mid-to-large-sized NEVs. So far, the Tongling base has been under construction. Including the Xiangcheng base, Singulato Motors has laid a solid foundation for the future large-scale mass production which can not only meet the demand from personal vehicle owners, but also sets the scene for entering timesharing rental field.
