Guangzhou to launch policy on road tests for autonomous vehicles
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Guangzhou (capital of Guangdong Province) government is formulating a guidance document on road tests for autonomous vehicles, according to local media.
Reportedly, Guangzhou government has a blueprint to launch a series of policies on the verification of its first batch of autonomous vehicles’ testing qualifications, the launch of temporary autonomous vehicle plates and other items.
According to relevant planning, by the end of 2019, Guangzhou will issue the policy that allows intelligent-connected vehicles (ICV) to be tested in semi-open testing fields (an area that permits private vehicle to enter in). In addition, by the end of 2020, the 5G-based intelligent-connected interactive system will be commercially operated on a large scale in this city. Meanwhile, some products like in-vehicle intelligent-connected terminal system will be put into production.
Last year, the annual vehicle output in Guangzhou reached 3.108 million units, accounting for 10.71% of total production output nationwide. Moreover, the total production value of auto manufacturing industry of Guangzhou boasted RMB 514.2 billion in 2017 which occupied 28.5% of total industrial output in this city.
What's more, there were over 600,000 units of self-owned auto brands being produced in Guangzhou last year, accounting for a proportion exceeding 20% of the city's whole vehicle output. GAC Trumpchi delivered a total of 508,600 vehicles throughout 2017, achieving continuous growth in both sales and output for 7 consecutive years.
