Xpeng Motors gains license plates in Guangzhou

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Xpeng Motors is expected to gain license plates from Guangzhou Traffic Police on Mar. 20, according to an insider from Xpeng Motors. 

According to an industry analyst, Xpeng Motors applied official license plates and is expected to carry them on its models, marking a milestone for the emerging internet-based carmakers.

Noticeably, Xpeng Motors had delivered 39 vehicles in January, 2018, signifying that the company has entered into CPCA's NEV sales list for the first time. Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of CPCA analyzed that Xpeng's gaining of license plates will have a great influence on customers.

Previous public information shows that Xpeng's sample model of the Beta version has taken test drive in September, 2016. In May, 2017, Xpeng Motors announced that it would build an intelligent technological industrial park with Zhaoqing municipal government. In July, 2017, Xpeng obtained product approval from MIIT. In September, 2017, Xpeng reached an agreement with Haima Motor on vehicle manufacturing. In October, 2017, the first batch of mass-produced vehicles rolled off the production line in Zhengzhou. On Dec. 3, 2107, XPeng's first vehicle was delivered to its first owner of the XPeng 1.0 Geek version. 

In 2018, the Xpeng 2.0 version was unveiled at the 2018 CES. The new model was named as the G3 and is expected to hit the market this spring. On Jan. 29, Xpeng Motors closed its B-round financing in Hong Kong, which was jointly led by Alibaba Group, Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn) and IDG Capital. It is said that Xpeng Motors will finish two rounds of financing with a total sum of $1 billion at least.
