BMW to provide over 80,000 instant charging piles by end of 2018

Shanghai (ZXZC)- BMW will provide over 80,000 instant charging piles by the end of 2018 in more than 100 Chinese cities, offering high efficient, convenient and intelligent public charging services for BMW's EV owners, according to local media.

As a luxury car manufacturer, BMW has built up China's largest public charging network through cooperating with China's four key charging operators at the end of 2017, owning 65,000 instant charging piles in more than 90 cities across China. Apart from this, BMW also provides convenient searching and ordering services of charging piles for NEV owners via various platforms.

Owners of BMW's NEVs can easily find the nearest charging piles and check the status of the charging piles through BMW's onboard connected driving system, BMW cloud connected APP and WeChat official account of instant charging. What's more, BMW's NEV owners can enjoy a service of ordering parking and charging in Shanghai.

It is said that the new-gen BWM Wallbox can enable the BMW i3 to be 80% charged in 3.8 hours. BMW provides free charging service of 1,680 hours within two years for car owners without fixed parking lots in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Chengdu.

Apart from charging network, BMW also has set up nearly 250 dealers to provide NEV-related sales and aftersales services. It is said that all-new BMW 5 Series PHEV will hit the Chinese market at the end of this month. In the future, BMW will enter the Chinese NEV segment with a more clear NEV strategy.
