JAC, Huawei’s first Smart Selection model said to be pure-electric MPV
Huawei and JAC Group's collaboration under the Huawei Smart Selection model, aimed at developing high-end electric vehicles, has unveiled further details. According to a report released by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Anhui Province, JAC Group is partnering with Huawei to create a cutting-edge luxury new energy vehicle platform called the X6 platform.

The report indicates that the X6 platform will cover vehicle models ranging from B to D+ segments, enabling the development of a diverse range of vehicles such as sedans, SUVs, MPVs, crossovers, and sporty models on a shared platform. The platform's inaugural product will be a pure electric mid-to-large-sized MPV, measuring 5,200mm in length and featuring a wheelbase of 3,200mm, with an annual production target of 35,000 units.
JAC Group is one of Huawei's Smart Selection automaking partners, and the collaborative brand for their joint venture is speculated to be named "Aojie." Additionally, Huawei has entered into Smart Selection partnerships with companies like SERES, Chery Automobile, and BAIC Group. SERES and Huawei’s co-developed vehicle brand is “AITO (Wenjie)”, while the brand between Chery and Huawei is named "Luxeed (Zhijie)".
The report also sheds light on the rationale behind the JAC-Huawei Smart Selection collaboration. It highlights that JAC Group's current lineup of mid-to-large-sized vehicles primarily consists of conventional hybrid electric models, which lack competitiveness and fail to meet future development demands. Consequently, JAC Group is establishing two pure electric platforms, including the the internally developed DE platform and the collaborative X6 platform with Huawei, aiming to actively seize a share of the domestic high-end new energy vehicle market by leveraging Huawei's intelligent technologies.
