State-owned carmaker Dongfeng Motor launched a new brand, Nammi, targeting the pure electric vehicle segment, in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, on Wednesday.

The first model, Nammi 01, is built based on Dongfeng's quantum architecture platform 3, which is exclusive to Nammi.

Dongfeng said the delivery of the Nammi 01 will start from November, adding that the Nammi brand will launch one or two new models every year.

The platform 3 adopts a short front and rear suspension design, supporting "millisecond-level" active battery disconnection.

It employs the Mach E electric drive system, integrating hub motors, solid-state batteries and super-fast charging technologies. To run 200 kilometers, the car needs just an eight-minute charge.

According to Chen Meng, general manager of Dongfeng Nammi, the brand aims to reach sales of 150,000 units in 2024 and 400,000 by 2025.

Nammi is an essential part in its strategy of strengthening, optimizing and expanding Dongfeng's independent brands, said Chen Hao, deputy general manager of Dongfeng Motor.

He said it will join forces with the carmaker's other brands including Aeolus to drive the company's transition and development in the new energy vehicle sector.
