Autoliv breaks ground on new factory in China’s Hefei city
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On June 12, 2024, Autoliv marked a new milestone in its strategic expansion in China by holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory in the Economic Development Zone of Feixi County, Hefei city, according to a post on Autoliv's WeChat account.
This new facility represents Autoliv's first industrial deployment in Hefei and underscores the company's commitment to deepening its presence and expanding its business scope in the Chinese market, said the company.

The new factory will primarily focus on the production of steering wheels, with an expected annual output of 4 million units once fully operational.
Fabien Dumont, Vice President of the China Technical Center at Autoliv, stated in his speech, "We are honored to establish our new factory in Hefei, a vibrant city that is one of China's key automotive industry hubs. The comprehensive industrial chain and excellent business environment here are crucial for our future development. Since our formal agreement signed with the local government in March of this year, the project has moved from blueprint to reality in just three months. The construction of this new factory is a significant strategic move for our company in China. Its completion will further strengthen our production capabilities in China, ensuring we can meet the growing market demand promptly and efficiently."
The new factory will cover a total area of 50,000 square meters, with the first phase of construction spanning 20,000 square meters, expected to be completed by 2025. It will feature advanced production equipment and processes, encompassing the entire production process of steering wheels, including foaming, injection molding, leather stitching, and assembly. The company said the factory will adopt a digital management model to create an intelligent, green factory, ensuring continuous high-quality and efficient production output.
