Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned NEV sales surge over 90% YoY in May

Beijing (ZXZC)- On June 2, Changan Automobile released its sales data for May, revealing a significant 90% year-on-year surge in its wholly-owned brands’ new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, totaling 55,800 units.

The performance of Changan's self-owned new energy vehicle brands has varied in the past month. Changan NEVO delivered 13,557 new vehicles in May, representing a 14.57% increase compared to April's 11,833 units. The NEVO brand currently offers three models, the A05 plug-in hybrid electric sedan, the Q05 plug-in hybrid electric SUV, and the A07 range-extended/battery-electric sedan. Additionally, the new NEVO E07 is now available for pre-order and is expected to be officially delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024.

DEEPAL, another of Changan's NEV brands, sold 14,371 vehicles in May, marking a 12.8% month-on-month increase. Notably, DEEPAL is set to launch a completely new vehicle model, the rugged off-road SUV G318, in June.

AVATR, the premium NEV brand jointly developed by Changan, Huawei, and CATL, also posted impressive numbers with 4,569 vehicles delivered in May, representing a 163% year-on-year spike. From January to May 2024, AVATR has cumulatively delivered 24,348 vehicles.

AVATR aims to sell 100,000 vehicles annually in 2024. The brand plans to launch eight new products throughout the year, with a rapidly expanding product line and sales network expected to boost its sales further.
