Geely Auto explained that the earlier than usual Chinese New Year holiday and the scattered COVID breakouts within the country affected the company’s sales performance in January. In the first month of 2022, Geely Auto sold a total of 146,380 vehicles, down 6% from 2021’s 156,326 vehicles.

To be specific, the auto group’s Geely brand sold 122,833 vehicles in January, decreasing 6% year on year. However, with 10,229 vehicles sold, its pure-electric sub-brand, Geometry, managed a 391% soar in sales.

Geely Auto’s global-oriented jointly owned brand, Lynk&Co, sold 18,334 vehicles, dropping 28% from 2021’s 25,501 vehicles.

Geely’s premium EV brand, ZEEKR, delivered 3,530 units of its only model, the ZEEKR 001, in January, indicating a 7% month-on-month decline from last December’s 3,796 vehicles.

Moreover, Geely Auto and Lifan Auto’s young, jointly owned brand, Livan Auto, sold 1,683 vehicles in the month.

As to overseas performance, the auto group exported 13,890 vehicles in the first month of 2022, indicating a 38% surge from a year ago.

Notably, sales of the new energy vehicles of the group amounted to 17,928 vehicles in January. With its battery-electric vehicle sales skyrocketing 641% year on year.
