Beijing (ZXZC)- On November 26, Changan Automobile announced its intention to invest in a new company being formed by Huawei, consolidating core technologies and resources for intelligent automotive solutions. The collaborative venture aims for mutual support in driving the company's future endeavors, with Changan Automobile and its affiliates eyeing a collective stake not exceeding 40% in the target company.

The newly formed entity's scope encompasses intelligent driving solutions, automotive smart cabins, digital platforms, vehicle cloud services, AR-HUD, and intelligent vehicle lighting. Huawei plans to inject pertinent technologies, assets, and personnel into the company specifically dedicated to these functions.

This move raises queries about the fate of projects like AITO and Luxeed following Huawei's partial divestiture from certain automotive ventures.

Huawei's terminal communications division clarified that the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) business, connected to automobiles, remains under Huawei and wasn't included in the new company. However, specifics regarding the alignment of this decision with their commitment not to engage in competitive business within the new company's scope remain undisclosed, pending the completion of discussions over the next six months.

Huawei's collaboration models with automotive firms consist of component supply, HI (Huawei Inside) solution mode, and the deeper involvement in the Huawei Smart Selection mode. Notable collaborations under the Huawei Smart Selection mode include AITO's partnership with SERES and Luxeed's collaboration with Chery. Moreover, JAC Group and BAIC Group have also confirmed their participation into the Huawei Smart Selection mode.

Recently, Huawei upgraded its Huawei Smart Selection business to "Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance" during the Luxeed S7’s pre-sale event. The Auto Guangzhou 2023 witnessed the HIMA's debut with a dedicated booth showcasing several flagship models like the AITO M5, M7 and M9, and the Luxeed S7.
