Changan Auto Jan. sales reach over 270,000 vehicles, driven by wholly-owned brands

Changan Auto started the year 2022 with growing momentum, with its wholly-owned Blue Whale lineup selling over 130,000 vehicles in January, the automaker announced on February 14th.

In the first month of 2022, Changan Auto sold a total of 277,244 vehicles, rising 10.03% from a year ago. Sales of the group’s China-branded vehicles amounted to 226,016 units, representing a 12.6% increase year on year. With 158,625 vehicles sold, Changan Auto’s wholly-owned passenger vehicle brands saw a 3.4% year-on-year rise in its January sales.

Especially the Blue Whale family, the lineup made up by all the models powered by Changan Auto’s self-developed Blue Whale engine, sold over 130,000 vehicles in January. The CS75 and CS55 models both saw their monthly sales surpass a historical 30,000-vehicle mark, with 33,590 and 30,316 vehicles sold respectively.

Moreover, Changan Auto’s intelligent, younger-generation oriented line, the UNI series, sold 12,047 vehicles in January. The series’ first Ark architecture powered sedan model, the UNI-V, will start global presale on February 21st.

In January, the sales volume of Changan Auto’s new energy vehicles amounted to 13,600 vehicles.

As to the automaker’s jointly owned brands, Changan Mazda sold 19,888 vehicles in the first month of 2022, surging 67.69% year on year. Meanwhile, Changan Ford saw a 17.48% decline in sales compared to a year ago, with 24,853 vehicles sold.

Additionally, the monthly sales volume of Changan Auto overseas amounted to 23,824 vehicles in January.
