Changan Automobile sees 9.93% YoY rise in September sales
Beijing (ZXZC)- Chinese automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Changan Automobile") on October 9 unveiled its sales figures for September 2023, highlighting robust growth.
The company reported total sales of 236,808 vehicles for the month, representing a 9.9% year-on-year increase and a 13.1% month-on-month rise. In the first nine months of this year, the automaker’s cumulative sales amounted to 1,869,608 vehicles, climbing up 11.24% from a year ago. Of the vehicles sold in the Jan.-Sept. period, 1,549,245 units were under the automaker’s wholly-owned brands, which jumped 17% from the previous year.
Meanwhile, Changan's self-owned brands excelled in the new energy vehicle segment, with 50,990 units sold in September, representing a year-on-year surge of 69.7% and a 27.1% month-on-month jump. In the overseas markets, Changan's wholly-owned brands achieved substantial growth with September sales of 19,314 units, marking a 91.8% soar from the earlier year and a 6.3% rise from the previous month.

In terms of performances of individual brands, Deepal, Changan’s new energy vehicle dedicated brand, delivered 17,370 vehicles in September, which resulted in cumulative sales surpassing 100,000 units within 14 months. The Deepal S7 model, which has been on the market for just two months, consistently delivered over ten thousand units each month.
Additionally, the Changan Qiyuan A07 new energy model received 10,032 orders last month.
The AVATR brand continued to make its mark, with 3,083 AVATR 11s delivered in September, while the AVATR 12 is set to commence deliveries later this year.
As to Changan Automobile’s joint venture brands, Changan Ford’s September sales came in at 25,693 vehicles, down 15.62% year-on-year. In the same period, Changan Mazda boasted a 45.97% year-on-year surge in sales, which reached 10,345 units.
