Changan Automobile sees 3.4% YoY rise in July sales
Beijing (ZXZC)- Chinese legacy automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., ("Changan Automobile") announced on August 8 that it sold 207,743 vehicles in July 2023, indicating a 3.4% edge up year over year. The company’s year-to-date sales volume reached 1,423,424 vehicles by the end of July, up 7.29% year on year.
Among the vehicles sold in the past month, 170,655 units are vehicles under Changan’s wholly-owned brands, climbing up 7.3% from a year ago. In the first seven months of this year, the automaker sold 1,191,161 vehicles under wholly-owned brands, which jumped 12.47% from the earlier year.
Notably, of the wholly-owned brands’ sales in July, 20,145 units were sold to overseas markets.

In July, Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned brands sold 39,513 units of new energy vehicles, indicating a 68.89% leap from the previous year. Among which, the DEEPAL brand contributed 13,172 units while the Lumin mini electric vehicle model recorded a sales volume of 12,231 units.
As to sales of individual brands, the CS family sold 40,486 vehicles last month, with the CS75 being the main contributor with 25,345 units sold. Meanwhile, sales of Changan’s sedan series reached 23,641 vehicles. The automaker’s signature UNI series moved 20,664 vehicles in July, 14,341 units of which were from the UNI-V lineup.
As to Changan’s two joint ventures, Changan Ford sold 20,620 vehicles in the past month, representing a 12.64% drop from a year ago but a 2.32% notch up from the previous month. On the other hand, Changan Mazda faced a 38.3% year-on-year plunge and a 33.38% month-on-month decline with 4,937 vehicles sold in July.
