SGMW to launch first family-use 7-seater MPV bearing Wuling global silver logo

SAIC-GM-Wuling SGMW General Motors' joint venture with Chinese partners SAIC Motor and Guangxi Automobile Group, claimed on Tuesday the second strategic model bearing Wuling's global silver logo, named Wuling Jiachen in Chinese will be launched soon.

The yet-to-be-launched model has already been included in the MIIT's catalogue. The patent image shows its front end features a massive chrome-plated grille with the silver Wuling logo at the center, representing a similar design idea to that of the Wuling Victory. At the rear, the lettering “Wuling” is seamlessly connected with the taillights on both sides, accentuating the model's width.

According to the MIIT's data, the Jiachen MPV will measure 4,785mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,760mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,760mm. Adopting a three-row arrangement, the model is claimed as the first family-use seven-seater MPV using Wuling's silver logo.

Powering the vehicle will be a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that pumps out up to 108kW, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT continuously variable transmission).

The model is said to hit the market as early as March with a possible starting price of 70,000 yuan $11,070).

While the Jiachen MPV was being unveiled to the public, the Wuling Victory, the first strategic model under the silver logo, saw its new variant “280T” go on sale.

According to the automaker, cumulative sales of the Wuling Victory MPV have already surpassed 100,000 units since it hit the market in November 2020.
