During the first six months of this year, BMW's pure electric vehicle lineup displayed strong momentum, experiencing a substantial 283% year-over-year spike in sales, totaling 44,864 units. Notably, among the electric models, the BMW iX3 and the all-new BMW i3 stood out, each saw a sales volume surpassing 21,000 units in the first half of the year.

With the electric models being well received among Chinese consumers, BMW plans to commence local production of the pure-electric BMW iX1 model in Shenyang, Liaoning Province during the second half of this year, with the domestically produced BMW i5 scheduled for next year.

In addition, BMW has been actively boosting its local production capabilities for power batteries. The BMW 6th generation power battery project, with a significant investment of tens of billions of yuan, commenced construction in Shenyang in May this year.

Moreover, BMW has further expanded its charging network layout in China with the BMW public charging network now providing access to over 540,000 public charging piles across more than 320 cities nationwide. In the first half of this year, public charging orders made through the My BMW App experienced a remarkable 138% year-on-year growth.
