Nissan Motor sees China sales rise YoY, MoM in May 2023
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Nissan Motor's China sales for May 2023 reached 66,096 units, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.7% and a month-on-month growth of 7.8%, the Japanese automaker said on Tuesday.
In May, Dongfeng Nissan, which includes the Nissan, Venucia, and INFINITI brands, sold a total of 62,832 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 12.4% and a month-on-month increase of 9.2%. Among them, Nissan brand’s sales reached 56,913 vehicles, showing a year-on-year growth of 14.1% and a month-on-month increase of 8.4%.
The light commercial vehicle sector (Zhengzhou Nissan) recorded a sales volume of 3,264 units last month.

For the first five months of this year, Nissan Motor's total sales in China, including both passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, amounted to 289,370 units, sliding 23.5% compared to the same period of last year. However, the rate of decline has gradually narrowed.
Mr. Shohei Yamazaki, Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Chairperson of Management Committee for China, and President of Dongfeng Motor Company Limited, expressed his optimism about the continuous recovery of sales, stating, "With the market conditions becoming increasingly stable, our sales performance has been steadily improving this month."
Yamazaki also highlighted the positive response from consumers to the launch of the Nissan X-Trail e-POWER model, which incorporates Nissan's most advanced technologies and offers a highly competitive price. Additionally, the upcoming introduction of the Venucia V-Online DD-i Super Hybrid model further adds to the company's electrification strategy in China.
