Geely Automobile posts 2-digit YoY growth in May, Jan-May 2023 sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited ("Geely Automobile" or "the Group") sold 120,053 vehicles in May 2023, representing a year-on-year jump of roughly 35%, according to the Group’s announcement issued on June 7.

Of the vehicles the Group sold last month, 27,036 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs), including 24,124 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 2,912 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Compared to the same period of 2022, Geely Automobile’s NEV sales in May jumped 38%.

For the first five months of this year, Geely Automobile’s cumulative auto sales also rose 14% from a year earlier to 556,148 units. Its year-to-date NEV sales amounted to 119,317 units, up 49% over the previous year.

Breaking down the sales data by specific brands, there were 92,833 Geely-branded vehicles sold last month, representing a 34% year-on-year growth. In the Jan.-May period, the Geely brand saw its total sales grow 13% from the year-ago period to 446,559 units. ZEEKR, the Group’s premium electric vehicle-dedicated brand, sold a total of 32,013 vehicles (+118% YoY) in the first five months of the year, 8,678 units (+100% YoY) were sold in May.

Besides, LYNK & CO scored a 28% year-on-year increase in its May 2023 sales, which stood at 14,489 units. Its Jan.-May sales edged up 2% over a year ago to 65,662 units. Livan, the brand co-owned with Lifan Technology, saw its May sales tick up 1% year over year to 4,053 units, which resulted in a year-to-date volume of 11,914 units (-4% YoY).

Geely Automobile also announced a monthly export volume of 22,864 units for the month of May, reflecting a 45% year-on-year surge. As of May 2023, the Group had exported 98,558 vehicles (+52% YoY) so far this year.
