Shanghai (ZXZC)- On May 22, 2023, GAC Energy, a subsidiary of GAC Group and GAC AION, signed an agreement with LynkVertx Technology Co., Ltd. (“LynkVertx”), a company incubated by the team of Academician Minggao Ouyang from Tsinghua University, for their strategic cooperation on V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technology development and applications, according to a post on GAC Group.

Under the agreement, GAC Energy and LynkVertx will utilize the cutting-edge vehicle-grid interaction technology developed by Academician Ouyang's team to conduct deep cooperation in product technology application, energy management systems, and demonstration scenario construction, targeting the transportation energy IoT, source-grid-load-storage, and other areas. Leveraging their respective strengths in ecological resources, market resources, supply chain resources, and technological resources, they will jointly explore and expand the market.

In addition, the duo will promote the formulation of V2G-related policy standards and lead the high-quality development of the energy industry through the comprehensive application of V2G.

Earlier, on April 18, GAC AION launched its "Fast Charging + V2G" action plans at the Auto Shanghai 2013, introducing its flagship model, the Hyper GT, equipped with V2G technology. The EV maker said its super charging & battery swap station also incorporates V2G technology and will gradually be promoted to users, so as to drive the commercial application of V2G.

With the support and promotion of the Chinese government, the electric vehicle industry is experiencing a flourishing opportunity in China. On May 17, China’s National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration issued the "Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of Charging Infrastructure to Better Support the Popularization of New Energy Vehicles in Rural Areas and Rural Revitalization," which further encourages research on key technologies such as V2G (vehicle-to-grid) and collaborative control of photovoltaic storage and charging. This policy provides a favorable external environment and policy support for the cooperation between GAC Energy and LynkVertx.

On May 22, Academician Ouyang and his team visited GAC AION’s factory, where they toured the latter’s technology exhibition hall and intelligent production line.
