The collaboration aims to leverage JMC's strong engineering, manufacturing capabilities, and cost advantages, combined with Ford's mature global sales network, to facilitate the worldwide expansion of various products, including cost-effective electric vehicles and oil-fueled commercial vehicles.
"China holds significant strategic importance for Ford," said Wu Shengbo, president and CEO of Ford China. "By fully utilizing Ford's strengths and the advantages of our partners in China, we can create more value for customers and shareholders. JMC has robust industrialization capabilities, and we believe it can become one of Ford's important engineering and manufacturing centers in China, exporting internationally competitive products to support Ford's global strategic growth."
Ford strategically invested in JMC in 1995 and became one of its major shareholders. During the period, JMC successfully introduced several popular Ford-branded models, which were well-received by Chinese consumers. In recent years, through deepening collaboration with Ford, JMC's export business has been continuously strengthened. In 2022, JMC exported over 60,000 vehicles annually to the Middle East, ASEAN, and South America, including models such as Ford Territory, Taurus, and Transit.
