Geely Automobile sees Apr. 2023 sales zoom up 58% YoY

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (“Geely Automobile”) today announced its monthly auto sales came in at 113,642 units in Apr. 2023, surging 58% from the previous year, while also rising 3% from the previous month.

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 29,874 units were new energy vehicles, reflecting a robust year-on-year spike of 112%. To be specific, the sales of pure electric vehicles reached 27,107 units in Apr., soaring 148% from a year earlier, but the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sector posted a 13% year-on-year dip with 2,767 vehicle sold.

In terms of regions, Geely Automobile said its domestic market sales (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) zoomed up 66% over a year earlier to 90,700 units last month. In the same period, the group exported 22,942 vehicles, which jumped 31% from the prior-year period.

Among brands, the Geely brand had 87,899 vehicles (+55% YoY) sold in Apr., 18,525 units were from the BEV-dedicated Geometry series.

ZEEKR, the group’s premium electric vehicle brand, recorded an Apr. sales volume of 8,101 units, which rocketed 279% from a year earlier.

Under ZEEKR’s European strategy unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2023, ZEEKR is scheduled to enter Europe later this year, with the first brick-and-mortar stores to be established in Sweden and the Netherlands.

During the month of Apr., Lynk & Co brand witnessed its monthly sales rise 36% year over year to 14,013 units, 1,741 units of which were delivered to its subscription customers in the European market.

For the first four months of this year, Geely Automobile sold a total of 436,095 vehicles (+10% YoY), which accounted for 26.43% of its annual sales target of 1.65 million units set for 2023.
