GAC Group logs 42.57% YoY leap in Apr. 2023 wholesale volume

Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group saw its monthly wholesale volume leap 42.57% over a year earlier to 177,224 vehicles in Apr. 2023, according to the company’s sales results issued on May 5.

Most subsidiaries of GAC Group gained a rising movement in Apr. sales. To be specific, the two main Sino-Japanese joint ventures, GAC Honda and GAC Toyota, both scored a single-digit year-on-year rise by selling 25,418 and 72,000 vehicles last month, respectively. Notably, the retail sales of GAC Honda (including export volume) in Apr. leapt 41.1% from a year earlier to 60,888 units.

GAC Motor, the passenger vehicle subsidiary wholly-owned by GAC Group, boasted a 45.32% jump in Apr. sales, which came in at 29,235 units.

The group’s new energy vehicle (NEV)-dedicated arm, GAC AION, witnessed its monthly sales rocket 301.61% from the previous year to 41,012 units, which resulted in a year-to-date volume of 119,330 units (+116.62% YoY).

Mainly thanks to the blooming growth in GAC AION's sales, GAC Group's overall NEV sales zoomed up 308.61% year over year to 46,439 units last month. For the first four months of this year, the group sold a total of 133,390 NEVs, up 107.82% over a year earlier.

GAC Group said it had a total of five models whose respective Apr. sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the AION Y (21,065 units), the AION S (19,569 units), the Levin series (13,660 units), the Camry series (12,811 units), and the Frontlander (11,654 units).
