Bosch's ESP supply crunch dents Great Wall Motor Feb. sales
Great Wall Motor sold over 70,000 vehicles in February. Its sales performance took a hit by the ESP supply crunch from Bosch’s Suzhou subsidiary, the automaker announced on March 8th.
In the second month of 2022, Great Wall Motor sold 70,792 vehicles, with 6,037 sold overseas. During the first two months of 2022, the sales ratio of the group’s upper-scaled models priced RMB150,000 and up) saw a 15.5% increase. Meanwhile, the sales proportions of its intelligent vehicle models managed 88.1% soar then before.

Specifically, Great Wall Motor’s SUV brand, HAVAL, sold 41,994 vehicles in February, with the H6 model accounting for almost half of the total sales volume.
In the meantime, the group’s feminine EV brand, ORA, sold 6,261 vehicles, with 4,066 units contributed by the Good Cat model. Additionally, the brand’s lower-end EV models, the Black Cat and the White Cat, have stopped taking new orders, which is suspected of signifying the brand’s reposition strategy to a higher-level market with new pricier models coming in 2022.
On the other hand, Great Wall Motor’s WEY brand sold 4,432 vehicles in February, more than doubled from a year ago. Its star model, the Latte DHT, sold 2,387 vehicles, surging 52% month over month.
The sales of the group’s TANK brand amounted to 6,468 vehicles in the second month of 2022, soaring 96% from a year ago. Up to now, the brand has accumulated a user base of over 100,000 people.
Last but not least, GWM Pickup sold 11,637 vehicles in February, with 8,512 units contributed by the Poer.
