Chinese battery maker CALB steps up cooperation with Shenzhen city
Shanghai (ZXZC)- CALB Co., Ltd. (“CALB”), one of the main power battery suppliers in China, on Feb. 4 signed a framework agreement with the government of Futian district, Shenzhen city, indicating its deeper strategic cooperation with the city based on the smooth launch and rapid development of its Shenzhen-based R&D center, according to a post on CALB’s WeChat account.
Under the new agreement, the strategic cooperation with CALB will be included into the list of Shenzhen’s city-level key projects. Both the municipal and the district-level government will vigorously push ahead with the development of CALB’s project, helping Shenzhen build a “vital global advanced manufacturing center”.

CALB will take advantage of Futian district's location, high-end industries, public services, comprehensive environment, and policy supports to give full play to its strengths in new energy vehicle-related applications and R&D in all scenarios, and vigorously carry out research and transformation of key cutting-edge technologies related to NEVs, build talent teams, and establish industrial standards.CALB recorded an annual power battery installed capacity of 19.24GWh in China last year, ranking third among battery makers in the country and accounting for 6.53% of China’s total full-year volume, according to data by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).
