Compared to a month earlier, Nissan’s China monthly sales also dropped 32.58% in January 2023. The Japanese automaker explained that its sales decline was an outcome of the New Year's Day and Chinese Lunar New Year holidays, both of which all fell in January and led to fewer weekdays in the month.
In the past month, Dongfeng Motor Co. & Ltd. (DFL), the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Nissan Motor, saw 45,623 vehicles sold through its passenger vehicle unit (including Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti brands), which reflected a 59.02% dent year-over-year.
In addition, Zhengzhou Nissan, the light commercial vehicle sector of Nissan Motor in China, sold 1,898 vehicles in January 2023.
Notably, the light commercial vehicles sales of Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd., one of Nissan Motor’s joint ventures in China, were no longer included in Nissan’s China sales reports since October 2022.
