BYD boasts 58.6% YoY surge in Jan. 2023 auto sales
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD Company Limited (“BYD”) announced on Wednesday that its monthly auto sales reached 151,341 units in Jan. 2023, surging 58.6% from the previous year.
Largely affected by the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, BYD saw its Jan. sales dwindle 35.65% compared to Dec. 2022.
The vehicle sales for the month of Jan. 2023 were composed of 150,164 passenger vehicles (PVs) and 1,177 commercial vehicles (CVs), which zoomed up 61.6% and 386.36% year on year, respectively.
Of the passenger vehicles sold last month, 10,409 units were exported to overseas markets, representing a year-on-year surge of 57.8%.
As for powertrain solutions, the sales of battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) of the PV unit came in at 71,338 units and 78,826 units last month, shooting up 53.79% and 69.37% over the year-ago period.

The latest monthly results also show that BYD scored a 51% year-over-year soar in the combined sales of its Dynasty and Ocean series in Jan. 2023. Besides, a total of 6,439 vehicles sold last month were under the DENZA brand, reflecting a 7.3% rise from the previous month.
The installed capacity of NEV power battery and energy storage battery of BYD was approximately 8.148GWh for the month of Jan. 2023, said the company.
