Geely Technology Group, GTA Semiconductor team up on auto-grade chip businesses

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Technology Group and GTA Semiconductor, a Chinese semiconductor chip manufacturer, signed an agreement on Jan. 12 to conduct all-around strategic cooperation on R&D, manufacturing, and market applications of automotive-grade chips, as well as talent development, according to a post on Geely Technology Group's WeChat account.

The new partnership was forged to boost the coordinated development of the automotive-grade chip industry, contributing to breakthroughs in the core technologies related to China-made semiconductors, and building a mature and stable ecosystem for automotive semiconductor industry.

Through the cooperation, the two companies will jointly build China's first automotive electronics CIDM (cooperative integrated circuit manufacturing) alliance. They will set up a joint laboratory focusing on the R&D, joint technical debugging, and production processing of automotive MCUs (microcontroller units), power devices, SoC (system-on-chip), PMICs (power management integrated circuits), and other chips.

In addition, they will work on developing the advanced chip process capability and building an outstanding talent team to ensure safety and sustainability of automotive-grade chip supply chain.
