GAC Group sees annual vehicle output, sales both surpass 2.43 million units in 2022
Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group sold a total of 2,433,801 vehicles through 2022, representing a 13.5% year-on-year growth, according to data shown in an announcement issued on Thursday.
In the same year, the Guangzhou-based auto group produced 2,479,911 vehicles in total, which grew 15.99% from the year-ago period.
Among subsidiaries, GAC Toyota outsold others with an annual sales volume of 1.005 million units, indicating a robust year-on-year rise of 21.38%. Nevertheless, the other two Sino-Japanese joint ventures—GAC Honda and GAC Mitsubishi—failed to see their yearly sales increase from a year earlier.
GAC Motor, the passenger vehicle (PV) manufacturer wholly-owned by GAC Group, boasted an 11.83% year-over-year growth by selling 362,548 vehicles last year.

GAC AION was credited the fastest-growing subsidiary with a year-on-year hike of 125.67% in its 2022 sales. The BEV (battery-electric vehicle)-dedicated company accounted for 87.6% of GAC Group's yearly NEV (new energy vehicle) sales, which stood at 309,548 units (+116.69% YoY).
As for monthly performance, GAC Group saw its Dec. sales fall 11.84% over the previous year to 206,001 units, due to the two-digit plunge confronting the sales of three Sino-Japanese joint ventures. GAC AION still boasted the highest year-on-year growth in Dec. sales, resulting in total NEV sales of 37,341 units for GAC Group.
In Dec. 2022, GAC Group has four models whose respective sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the Accord series (25,434 units), the Levin series (16,525 units), the AION Y (14,311 units), and the AION S (13,832 units).
