Tesla sells 100,291 China-made vehicles in November 2022
Beijing (ZXZC)- In November 2022, Tesla sold 100,291 China-made vehicles via wholesale, representing an outstanding 89.73% leap over the previous year, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
Compared to a month earlier, Tesla China’s November wholesale volume surged 39.87%. Notably, this also marked a record-high monthly delivery volume achieved by Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.
In the past month, the US electric vehicle maker shipped 37,798 Shanghai-made vehicles overseas, representing a 30.65% drop month over month. On the other hand, retail volume of Tesla vehicle in China came in at 62,493 units in November, zooming up 263.33% from that of October.
In the first eleven months of this year, the cumulative wholesale volume of China-made Tesla vehicles summed up to 655,069 vehicles, 257,225 units of which were exported to overseas markets, accounting for roughly 40% of the total volume.

Judging from the overall monthly retail volume of new energy passenger vehicles ("NEPV") in China, Tesla secured 10.5% market share in November, up 2.1 percentage points year over year. At the same time, China’s locally-owned brands accounted for an unshakable 70.3% of the entire NEPV retail sales, hiking up 8 percentage points from the previous year. The market share of new energy vehicle startups came up to 12.7% in the past month, up 1.3 percentage points from the earlier month while slipping 7.3 percentage points compared to the year-ago period.
Overall, China’s NEPV wholesale volume refreshed its monthly record in November, with 14 automakers selling over 10,000 vehicles. The 14 automakers accounted for 85.1% of the entire local NEPV wholesales in the past month, including BYD (229,942 NEPVs sold), SAIC-GM-Wuling (76,165 NEPVs sold), Geely (34,642 NEPVs sold), Changan Automobile (32,018 NEPVs sold), GAC AION (28,765 NEPVs sold), SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle (25,785 NEPVs sold), NETA (15,072 NEPVs sold), Li Auto (15,034 NEPVs sold), NIO (14,178 NEPVs sold), Dongfeng eGT (11,740 NEPVs sold), BMW Brilliance (11,615 NEPVs sold), and Chery Auto (11,563 NEPVs sold).
In November, China’s NEPV wholesale volume managed a 70.2% leap year on year and a 7.9% hike month on month to roughly 728,000 vehicles. During the first eleven months of the year, there were a total of 5.742 million NEPVs sold via wholesale across the world’s largest auto market, which rocketed 104.6% from the year-ago period.
