CATL launches Module to Bracket tech for truck battery swapping
Shanghai (ZXZC)- CATL's innovative MTB (Module to Bracket) technology will be first applied in the heavy-duty truck battery swapping project under Qiyuan Core Motive Power ("Qiyuan"), a smart energy service provider of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (“SPIC”), Qiyuan announced on Sept. 17 via its WeChat account.
CATL's MTB technology directly integrates a battery module with the truck's bracket or chassis, lifting the battery system's volumetric utilization lifted by 40%, while decreasing the overall light by 10% compared to the traditional approach, according to Qiyuan's press release.Using the newly-launched technology, a truck's battery system energy density can reach 305Wh/L or 170Wh/kg, and its service life can be raised to 10,000 charge-discharge cycles in 10 years.

The technology also supports a wide battery capacity range of 140kWh to 600kWh.
Using Qiyuan Power's low framework design, the MTB technology helps lower the battery installation height by 21% compared to the conventional method, so as to improve vehicles' driving safety.
Qiyuan has so far deployed over 100 EV charging and battery swapping stations for heavy-duty trucks in China, which are applicable to more than 200 battery-swappable heavy-duty truck models.
Notably, CATL invested in Qiyuan in January this year, becoming the latter's fifth largest shareholder.
