Nissan Motor sees China sales dip 12% YoY in August 2022
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Nissan Motor announced today its China sales reached 99,570 units in August 2022, sliding 12% from the previous year.
Affected by external factors such as auto parts crunch and the coronavirus resurgence, the Japanese automaker saw its Jan.-Aug. China sales shrink 18.5% year on year to 745,793 units.

Dongfeng Nissan, the passenger vehicle (PV) business unit of Dongfeng Motor Company Limited ("DFL"), sold 88,133 vehicles in August, representing an 8.9% year-on-year decrease, while posting a 1.9% month-on-month growth. There were 80,006 Nissan-branded PVs sold last month, while the Venucia brand saw its Aug. sales jump 31.5% from a year earlier to 7,637 units.
For the first eight months of 2022, Dongfeng Nissan sold 623,413 vehicles in total (-17.2% YoY), 556,032 and 62,331 units of which were from Nissan and Venucia brands, respectively.
Nissan Motor didn't disclose the sales volume of the Infiniti brand in either August or the year-to-date period.
In August, DFL's light-duty commercial vehicle (CV) business unit recorded a sales volume of 11,437 units (-30.4% YoY), 8,324 and 3,113 units of which were sold by Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. ("DFAC") and Zhengzhou Nissan, respectively.
With 122,380 vehicles sold in total, DFL's light-duty CV unit posted a 24.7% year-on-year drop in the first eight months. DFAC has sold 90,707 vehicles so far this year, including 11,392 new energy vehicles.
