Shanghai (ZXZC)- The French global automotive supplier Valeo recently celebrated the inauguration of a vibration and noise R&D laboratory ("V&A-LAB China") it jointly built with Huazhong University of Science and Technology ("HUST").

According to a press release from Valeo, the new lab will be dedicated to the R&D of vehicle vibration and noise-related technologies and talent cultivation for such fields. It will play an important role in Valeo's global NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) R&D network development to meet technical demands of the group's business units in China and support Valeo's NVH business development in Asia.

Gu Jianmin, Valeo China CTO, said the new joint lab would help Valeo's China team strengthen its R&D capability and obtain chances to engage in more global innovation projects.

According to Mr. Gu, Valeo has deployed in China 13 R&D centers with around 4,000 R&D engineers. In 2021, the company expanded the Wuhan-based R&D and software center, which is one of Valeo's biggest R&D hubs worldwide.

The V&A-LAB China will leverage the advantages of both Valeo and HUST to conduct research on automotive air-conditioning NVH, voice quality, new materials, and new technologies for automotive vibration and noise reduction, and talent development for those areas. Moreover, it will also support Valeo in technology R&D, so as to help the group maintain its leadership in the NVH domain.
