Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), General Motors' joint venture with Chinese partners SAIC Motor and Guangxi Automobile Group, announced on Friday its vehicle sales reached 145,017 units in July 2022, jumping 32% from the previous year.

Meanwhile, the automaker noted that the vehicles it sold last month included 59,288 new energy vehicles (“NEVs”), representing a 117% year-on-year hike. Besides, its export volume amounted to 19,739 units in July, surging 50% from a year ago.

In mid-July, SGMW announced its foray into the hybrid electric vehicle (“HEV”) field by virtue of its advantages in the integrated ecosystem of NEV core component supply chain and the in-house development capability of batteries, electric control units, and chips.

The company said it had planned out both HEV and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) routes, of which HEVs would be launched first in a bid to offer users proper solutions when the existing charging network deployment is not enough to completely solve range anxiety.

In the second half of 2022, SGMW plans to roll out the HEV versions of the Wuling Victory and the Wuling Asta, which are expected to carry a hybrid system with a 2.0-liter engine. Notably, the Wuling Asta HEV hit the market on August 2.
