Changan Automobile’s May wholly-owned NEV sales surge 141% YoY
Beijing (ZXZC)- In the fifth month of 2022, Changan Automobile saw its overall monthly sales volume recover from April, according to the company’s report on June 9th.
In May, Changan Automobile sold 151,102 vehicles in total and produced 155,232 vehicles. Compared to the same month last year, the company saw a respective decline of 18.09% and 6.25%.
During the Jan.-May period, Changan Automobile’s cumulative sales volume summed up to 918,334 vehicles, representing a 10.65% decrease year over year. With 740,897 units sold, Changan Automobile’s China-branded vehicle sales accounted for 80.68% of the company’s year-to-date sales, slipping down 11.24% from the year-ago period. In the meantime, Changan Automobile’s wholly-owned passenger vehicle sales amounted to 510,872 vehicles in the past five months, notching down 10.72% compared to the previous year.

Among the wholly-owned vehicles sales in the Jan.-May period, 82,158 units were sold overseas, surging 57.07% year on year. At the same time, Changan Automobile achieved a 140.92% soar in its China-branded new energy vehicle sales from a year ago, with 66,690 units sold.
As to the company’s joint venture brands, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda sold 13,168 vehicles and 8,713 vehicles respectively, dropping 32.4% and 9.63% compared to the earlier year.
