Ford Motor logs 18.8% YoY drop in Q1 China sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Ford Motor Company posted a year-on-year decrease of 18.8% in China in the first quarter of 2022, with sales reaching nearly 125,000 units, the automaker announced today.

Lincoln brand continued its upward trajectory in China. Its quarterly sales in China hit a new high of 19,471 units in the first quarter. Notably, the best-ever monthly China sales were achieved by the luxury brand in February, reflecting a 34% year-on-year jump.

With 18,919 units sold in total, the China-made Lincoln Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, and all-new Zephyr accounted for 97% of Lincoln’s first-quarter China sales. The biggest sales contributor was the Corsair with a sales volume of 10,915 units.

Hitting the market on March 12, the all-new Lincoln Zephyr has so far recorded an order volume of over 5,600 units.

The sales of Ford-branded passenger vehicles amounted to 46,719 units in the first quarter.

After starting presale in March, the automaker has already received nearly 10,000 orders of the new-generation Ford Mondeo. The flagship car model formally hit the market yesterday.

For the first three months of 2022, Ford and JMC's commercial vehicle sales stood at 50,970 units.

Besides, Ford Motor's China electric vehicle business unit delivered 969 Mustang Mach-Es in March. The automaker revealed the lead-time of the all-electric SUV model had been shortened to only six weeks.
