Chery Holding’s 2021 sales jump 32% YoY, targets to sell 1.5 million vehicles in 2022

Chery Holding released its 2021 annual sales performance report on January 7th, illustrating its historic sales record, drawing an impressive conclusion for the year.

According to the company’s report, Chery Holding sold 112,015 vehicles in December. The group saw a 31.7% year-on-year surge in its cumulative sales volume, for the entire year of 2021, with 961,926 vehicles sold.

Domestically, Chery managed to sell 692,772 vehicles in 2021, increasing 12.38% from a year ago. As to the new energy sector of the group, with its intensive layout in the field, Chery Holding saw a 144.6% year-on-year soar in its cumulative new energy vehicle sales in 2021, at 109,028 vehicles.

Chery Holding sets annual sales target of 1.5 million units for 2022

December 18th, 2021, marks the 22nd anniversary of the first Chery vehicle rolling off the production line. The automaker finds the day especially significant considering its prominent achievement this year.

The coming year 2022 is the 25th birthday of Chery Holding. The automaker announced a new target of selling at least 1.5 million vehicles, striving for 2 million vehicles in 2022, with annual revenue of RMB200 billion.

Chery Holding believed that the intelligent, digital, connected reformation is the future of the auto industry. Phase I of the group’s future intelligent connected plant project has completed construction and is going to start production in 2022.

Chery Holding completes 200,000 annual export target with three months to spare

Chery Holding celebrated another new record of monthly passenger vehicle export volume in October.

The group has finished its annual export target of 200,000 vehicles ahead of time. It successfully became the first Chinese brand that exported over 200,000 vehicles overseas annually, at 212,959 vehicles to be specific, skyrocketing 145.7% year on year. In October alone, the company shipped 25,049 vehicles, surging 92.7% from a year ago and setting another new monthly export record for Chinese passenger vehicle brands.

Chery Auto celebrates 20 years of exportation, introducing global line at Auto Guangzhou 2021

On November 25th 2021, China’s major automaker Chery Auto celebrated its 20th anniversary of branching out overseas, with almost 2 million international users to date.

During the sixteen years of commitment in the Russian market, Chery Auto was rated “the most popular Chinese auto brand” for five consecutive times. In Brazil, it held a place in the top ten monthly sales list among all auto brands for five consecutive months, soaring 84.7% year on year. In Chile, Chery Auto managed to sell 16,986 vehicles from January to September this year, ranking No.5 among all auto brands, and No.1 among Chinese brands.  

Notably, during the Auto Guangzhou 2021, Chery Auto officially introduced its all-new globalized product line, the OMODA, and showcased its first model, the OMODA 5.

Chery Auto said to file for IPO in 2022

Chery Auto is reported to pursue an IPO in China’s A share market in 2022, for it is projected to gain profit over RMB1.3 billion this year.

Records show, Chery Auto, an independent brand from Chery Holding, reported RMB34.76 billion in revenue in 2020, edging up year on year. However, the company only saw an annual net profit of RMB7.37 million, significantly plummeting from 2019’s RMB392 million, losing RMB288 million in the first half of the year.

Chery’s Lion Tech joins hands with location service provider, Dayou Pi for ICV development

Chery’s automotive intelligence arm, Lion Tech joined hands with location service provider, Dayou Pi, to build a united work group for intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) R&D and mass production.

The partnership specifies that the two parties will form a joint work force, and cooperate in various automotive intelligence aspects, including V2X, high-precision maps, high-precision locating, and simulation tests for autonomous driving.  

Chery, Haier build joint venture for building automotive IoT platform

Chery Holding said the strategic cooperation with Haier Group, a Chinese multinational home appliances and consumer electronics company, has been further firmed up following the registration of a joint venture.

Founded on August 6, the joint venture, named Anhui Haixingyun Internet of Things Technology Co.,Ltd., involves a registered capital of 50 million yuan ($7.72 million). It is 51% owned by Wuhu Chery Information Technology Co.,Ltd., whose majority shareholder is Chery Automobile Co.,Ltd., and 49% held by Haier Digital Technology (Qingdao) Co.,Ltd.

Chery Holding, BOE to ally on smart in-car cockpit solutions

Chery Holding and Boe Technology Group Co., Ltd. (BOE) inked an agreement on July 15 to carry out cooperation on smart in-car cockpit solutions, IoV (Internet of Vehicles) business, and the solutions for multiple smart IoT (Internet of Things) scenarios, according to Chery Holding's WeChat account.

As part of joint efforts to develop in-car smart cockpit solutions, both parties will leverage their industrial resources and technical strengths to build a joint innovation lab dedicated to the development of application scenarios and market demands.

Chery Auto, iFLYTEK enhance cooperation on smart speech products, digital transition

Chinese automaker Chery Automobile and the speech intelligence company iFLYTEK agreed to comprehensively cement their strategic partnership on May 24, intending to jointly develop intelligence products and promote the corporate digital transition.

Under the agreement, the two parties will step up their collaboration on automotive intelligent cockpit, smart sound effect, sales service, multilingual voice assistant, intelligent driving, industrial intelligence, and corporate digitalization, and be deeply involved in each other's future strategic planning.

Former FAW VW executive joins Chery Jaguar Land Rover

On September 14th, Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR), the joint venture between Chinese automaker Chery Automobile and UK auto manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, announced that Ma Zhenshan would immediately take on the executive vice president position of CJLR and the Integrated Marketing Sales and Service Organisation between CJLR and Jaguar Land Rover China.

Ma Zhenshan joined FAW-Volkswagen twenty-one years ago as a market researcher and worked his way up to the company’s central China market business division manager in 2013. Three years later, Ma Zhenshan was promoted to vice manager of FAW-VW Sales Company (FAW-VW’s subsidiary), responsible for marketing of the VW brand. From 2020, Ma came up as executive vice manager of FAW-VW Sales Company, executive director of the VW brand, fully responsible for FAW-VW’s VW brands’ marketing and promoting works.
