Faurecia said both Chinese consumers' strong interest in cutting-edge disruptive in-car technologies and the great possibility that the majority of global luxury car market consumption will occur in China after 2025 create great chances for the company to develop and apply the “Cockpit of the Future” technology.

Besides, the localization of cockpit will greatly shorten the period for Faurecia to put relevant innovation solutions onto the market of the world's largest auto market, added the company.

In addition to the leadership in automotive seats, interior, and electronics fields, Faurecia has also built itself a special marketing position in the domains of cockpit software, interior module, and system architecture. Those efforts will technically support Faurecia in realizing the vision of “Cockpit of the Future”, and developing personalized, predictable, and connected cockpit using experience, said the company.

Leveraging Faurecia's well-known method for system integration, the Shanghai-based innovation center will be dedicated to developing innovative cockpit solutions, researching insights into Chinese consumers, and integrating businesses of the design of innovative interior, the engineering of complete cockpit, the development of Apps, services, and electromechanical architecture, as well as smart marketing.

François Tardif, President of Faurecia China, assumes the role of Chairman of Faurecia's Shanghai-based innovation center of "Cockpit of the Future". Jin Chao, Chief Technology Officer of Faurecia China, is responsible for the center's operations.
