Volvo Cars 2021 China sales surpass 170,000 vehicles, with RECHARGE sales almost doubling YoY
Beijing (ZXZC)- Volvo Cars saw positive growth in its 2021 annual sales performance in China, with its favorable XC60 model driving its sales year-round.

According to the company’s report, it sold 14,622 vehicles in December in China, representing a 9.05% increase from the previous month. In 2021, Volvo sold 171,393 vehicles in total, edging up 3.1% compared to a year ago.
The company’s mainstay model, the XC60's sales amounted to 65,036 vehicles in the country during the entire year, rising 6% year on year. The luxury sedan S60 saw a 29% year-on-year jump, with 27,993 vehicles sold annually. Meanwhile, the cumulative sales volume of Volvo’s luxury flagship SUV, the XC90, also celebrated a 16% increase from 2020.
Moreover, Volvo’s battery-electric line, RECHARGE, went at a gallop this year, with a 77% year-on-year increase in its December China sales. In 2021, sales of the RECHARGE series managed an impressive 96% increase compared to the previous year.
In 2021, Volvo Cars became the first luxury auto brand to realize electrification among its entire product lineup. At the 2021 Auto Guangzhou, the automaker showcased its second battery-electric vehicle model, the C40 RECHARGE, after the XC40 RECHARGE.
