Shanghai (ZXZC)- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released on Sept. 3 several temporary measures to facilitate companies' application for changing registered information of vehicle models and replace auto parts suppliers. The policies were issued to ease the pressure automakers are suffering amid the industry-wide chip shortage.

According to the ministry, if a company applies to change or add some parameters about the electronic control units used in its vehicle models included in the MIIT's Announcement on On-road Vehicle Manufacturers and Products (hereinafter referred to as the “Announcement”), authorities should accept the application notwithstanding temporary lack of relevant testing reports.

Meanwhile, the company should make sure their products sail through relevant testing and validation for safety performance, and offer the testing results and promise in writing the provision of such documents within a prescribed time limit.

Enterprises can upload relevant documents through an online system to quicken the handling process.

In addition, the MIIT will shorten the review time and increase frequency for issuing the Annoucements before June 30, 2022, so as to accelerate the handling process of the applications delivered by the automakers who are urgent to change auto electronic control units and replace auto parts suppliers.
